Nations fastest-growing TU chapter creates annual scholarship
They say membership has its benefits.
That certainly stands true for the Headwaters Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
From a total enrollment of 110 members in January 2005, the Gaylord-based group has grown to well over 400 members covering five Northeast Michigan counties - Alpena, Cheboygan, Montmorency, Otsego and Presque Isle.
That makes Headwaters the fastest-growing Trout Unlimited chapter in the country.
Among the beneficiaries of the groups newly bolstered largesse is a student at Lake Superior State University. The Headwaters Chapter recently announced it would fund a $500 annual scholarship to one Lake State senior majoring in the universitys fisheries and wildlife management program and with an emphasis on fisheries.
