Me-too syndrome: Why AP districts fight for the IIT
Other districts of Andhra Pradesh are unhappy that the states first IIT is going to be located in Medak. And so leaders of coastal Andhra are pressing Union minister of state for HRD D Purandeshwari to set up an IIM in Krishna district and an IISc in Visakhapatnam!
The rationale is that the district benefits from the secondary development which takes place in the wake of a premier national educational institute coming up. That, in the wake of the setting up of an IIT or an IIM, there can be activity of a banking and finance kind which can catalyse the districts development into a commercial, educational centre.
