Left, UPA at Loggerheads Over FDI in Higher Education

The Left and the UPA are getting ready for a confrontation over foreign direct investment in higher education. The Left will oppose any move to allow foreign universities on Indian soil while the bill has the Prime Ministers personal interest, reports CNBC-TV18.

Harvard, India or MIT, India - thats the dream the government is selling as it mulls over a bill that will allow foreign direct investment in higher education. But after a delegation from the Students Federation of India accompanied by CPM MP Sitaram Yechury met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday evening, it looks like this bill could result in another confrontation between the Left and the Congress.
