Solons: Use P25B from PLDT stake sale on education
Six lawmakers on Wednesday called on the government to exclusively use on education the P25.2 billion in proceeds from the public auction of the governments indirect 6.4-percent stake in Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co.
In a House resolution filed Wednesday, the lawmakers said the proposal is meant to give more meaning to the mandate of the Constitution for the State to assign the highest budgetary priority to education.
The income from the sale should be allocated wholly to education. We can not ignore the fact that education badly needs all the financial support the State can provide, the lawmakers said.
