Education for Muslims
THIS refers to the article by Aijaz Zaka Syed, on Iran and the Muslim world, reproduced in a local daily in Canada the other day.
During my school time, I used to be worried over the future of the Muslim civilisation and the likelihood of it being subordinated. This civilisation was surviving as the dominant civilisation promoted by the ruling elite for over 1000 years in most parts of the world, and then, for the last 300 years, was struggling over its lost role (political power).
In India now, I see this civilisation has been buried under the onslaught of neo- nationalism in very deceptive ways. I feel that if someone wants to kill a civilisation, the easy way is to take away its language, religious values, industrial skills, history etc, so that, within a few years, the civilisation will meet with a natural death.
