First inmates to graduate from reading course
Fifty inmates in Hatays E-type prison have been taught how to read and write. Classes at the prison have helped 50 prisoners to receive a primary school education, 70 to receive high school diploma and eght prisoners to receive distance learning diplomas.
Warden Muzaffer Avcı said they offered continuous education and workshops to the 608 prisoners in the 52 cell prison.
Avcı said many prisoners who were unable to receive a proper education because of economic or other reasons are being introduced to books for the first time.
