Education Finally Gets Its Due
Now that the state Legislature has completed the largest tax cut package in the states history, lawmakers are turning their attentions to spending some money.
First and foremost on the list is education. With that one-time surplus account that is estimated to be $843 million by the end of the fiscal year, lawmakers are looking to spend a big chunk on facilities.
The state Supreme Court has ruled that the state has to provide better school facilities, and one estimate, provided by a report from last year, showed that facility improvements would cost $250 million.
