Speakers encourage greater access to college education
Expanding access to college education was a running theme among early speakers at a hearing today on the future of higher education in Florida.
About 50 people – many of them representing higher education systems – were at the hearing continuing through 3:30 p.m. in the Student Union at the University of Central Florida.
Todays hearing is an initial step in the Board of Governors plan to draft a blueprint for the future of Floridas public university system. Additional hearings will be held throughout the state at dates to be announced. The board in June is expected to set a timeline for developing the blueprint. The process could take up to two years, said university system Chancellor Mark Rosenberg.
