Maj Gen KJS Oberoi, GOC of Delhi Area inaugurated a distance learning programme, e-Gurukul here today. One of the greatest challenges of the Armed Forces is to keep their manpower up to date with the latest in technology. However, commitments in the form of peace time duties, exercise and large scale deployments in Counter Insurgency operations both in the North and Northern Eastern states, leave very little time for training.
Training institutes of the Armed Forces are also spread across the country. Soldiers have to physically reach these training institutes to be imparted training. Often due to the various commitments this is not always possible. However, the need to fine tune skills and to keep in touch with the latest, there is a requirement of every soldier to constantly update himself.
