Ferriman awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has awarded one of its prestigious postgraduate scholarships to Albion Colleges Justin Ferriman (Northville), who helped the mens soccer program achieve winning seasons the past three years. The $7,500 award, to be used toward graduate school, is presented to 29 men nationwide who compete in fall sports (cross country, football, soccer, and water polo) in all NCAA divisions.
Ferriman becomes the 11th scholar-athlete in Albion history to receive the NCAA postgraduate scholarship. Liz Hermiller (womens soccer, 2001), Jim Horner (baseball 1969), Neil Johnson (football, 1997), Kyle Klein (football, 1996), Jennifer Kennedy (womens basketball, 1993), Joel Manby (football and baseball, 1981), Mike Montico (football, 1993), Megan Russell (softball, 2004), Tim Schafer (football, 1995), and Jeff Shooks (football, 1994) were the other Britons to receive the award.
A four-year letter winner for the Britons in mens soccer, Ferriman was a two-time all-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association selection. He was a first team all-league defenseman in 2006 as the Britons finished second in the MIAA with an 11-2-1 record against league rivals.
