Student responds to editorial, Murphy Oil Scholarship
This editorial is a response to the editors remarks in the Feb. 26 issue of The ORACLE. An undergraduate degree is only devalued when alumni accept mediocrity in their professional lives. Graduates are the ones who bear most of the responsibility for giving value to Hendersons name.
There are many alumni who have added great worth to the degree they have acquired at Henderson - people like Robert Fisher, class of 1970, whose position as president of Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., gives not only stature to our degree, but also an idea of what future students can attain.
And there are people like Dr. Myra Hurt, a very respected cancer scientist, professor and dean of the medical college at Florida State University who has a laboratory named after her and is a frequent lecturer at Harvard Medical School.
