Nirmaan In the field of education, the objective of the BD Bangur Endowment trust Nirmaan is to help individuals who wish to pursue higher studies and gather specialised knowledge in their chosen field from the best of universities across the globe. The loan scholarships are for higher studies abroad and in India for postgraduate, doctoral or diploma courses in any of the subjects science/engineering/medicine/business studies/arts and humanities/law/arehitecture/ecology/environment/photography/journalism/fitness/sports/other fields. If the student has taken admission in a foreign institution, the maximum period of the loan is two years. The maximum amount of loan scholarship will be Rs 1,00,000. The sum provided would be sufficient to enable a candidate to meet initial travel and term expenses. Thereafter, the candidate will be expected to raise funds from other sources, such as university scholarships, fellowships, teaching assistantships or campus jobs.
Requirements: Indian national, below 35 years of age, having a good academic record, should be able to establish genuine financial need. In the normal academic disciplines, one should be a graduate with a consistent academic record of distinction from an Indian university of recognised standing. Those in the final year of a degree course would also be eligible. In exceptional cases, loan scholarships may be given for undergraduate studies if the course, deemed otherwise appropriate to the endowments objective, is not available in India. Candidates should be able to communicate fluently in English. At the time of applying, they should have applied for admission to a university.
To apply: Request for application forms should be sent to the office of BD Bangur Endowment, C/o Graphite India Ltd, 31 Chowringhee Road, Kolkata-700016 along with bio-data outlining academic background including subjects offered and class obtained in each final examination, evidence of admission, if available, a copy of proof of date of birth, details of available financial support, copies of score sheets of the qualifying examinations like GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, etc, a postal order of Rs 50 towards cost of brochure, application form and courier charges.
