Mercer Education Foundation to soon award its first scholarship

The Mercer Education Foundation will award its first scholarship, worth up to $4,000, to someone in the class of 2007.

Mercer history teacher Kay Krans, a member of the board of the new foundation, laid out awards plans Monday night for the Mercer School Board.

She said the foundation will award a $1,000 scholarship, renewable for up to four years of college to a student who maintains a 3.0 grade point average.
