Fruitland teacher garners crucial scholarship

Fruitland Middle School math and science teacher Laurie McCord received a $500 scholarship from Northwest Professional Educators during an FMS staff meeting Tuesday morning.

Northwest Professional Educators is happy to award Ms. McCord with this scholarship, which will increase her ability to educate students with English as a Second Language, Cindy Omlin, Executive Director of NWPE, who presented McCord with the award, said. NWPE is proud to reward educators for their hard work and commitment to help every child reach their potential. Ms. McCords award is certainly well-deserved as she seeks ways to increase student achievement.

The scholarship — slated for continuing education — will go toward a class on psycholinguistics McCord attended through Boise State University. McCord is pursing a masters in English as a Second Language through BSU.
