Gov. Blunt proposes scholarship funding increase

Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt proposed significantly increasing need-based scholarship funding this morning at Missouri State University.

Blunt advocated boosting program funding from $27.5 million to more than $72.5 million. The increase would allow about 19,000 more public college students access to scholarships each year.

Under the proposal, MSU estimated it would have up to 3,000 students eligible for aid rather than 595 under the current system.
