Educational Book Fair Begins In Capital
A nine-day 9th Nepal Education & Book Fair 2005 to introduce with qualitative and modern education system started Friday at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu. The fair organised by the Global Exposition and Management Services Pvt. Ltd. has 200 stalls of all kinds of books, educational institutions and consultants represented from many countries such as India, China, Japan, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, Switzerland and Malaysia.
The exhibition aims at bringing students, guardians, educationists, publishers, policy-makers, sellers and educational institution operators together to disseminate information about national and international schools, colleges and universities, said the organiser.
It will be an opportunity to acquire knowledge on international education system and search for vocational education, said Satya Mohan Joshi, chancellor of Nepal Bhasha Academy, inaugurating the function.
At the programme, Prof. Dr. Abhi Subedi of Tribhuvan University and Barbara Hewitt, executive director of the British Council Nepal, spoke on the importance of the exhibition and books, which are the sources of knowledge.
Seminars, quiz contest and free counseling on design arts will be also organised during the fair and about 50,000 visitors are expected, according to the organiser. The exhibition is sponsored by Padmashree Group of Institutions, India, British Council Nepal, Ekta Books, Worldlink, Career Consult Nepal, Lord Buddha Education Foundation, Nepal International Educational Consultancy, Orbit International Education, Universal Language and Computer Institute, Xavier International Academy, Frosty Ice-Cream, Skynet and DTDC.
