    Footwear Design and Development Institute has taken up the challenge to give students an opportunity to learn about retail, and launched the Centre for Retail Management offering job-oriented programmes. The institute conducts a wide range of postgraduate diploma and undergraduate diploma courses in fashion design, technology, management, leather goods and accessories design, retail management, merchandising, marketing, creative designing and CAD/CAM catering to the need of the industry and at the same time provides promising career options to the students.

Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI) launches new cours­es in fashion merchandis­ing and retailing. These are PG Diploma in Retail Management for graduates and three years' Diploma in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Management for 10+2 students. The courses would help students to pre­dict styles and trends and evaluate the needs of the target market. "In the com­ing days we will see Indian fashion competing with the best in the world and India will emerge as a fashion hub in the global market," said Shashi Bhushan Shukla, secretary, FDDI. AIT, Pantaloon tie up Ansal Institute of Technology (AIT), Gurgaon, has collaborated with Pantaloon Group to jointly launch a two-year postgraduate diploma in Retail Management. Also, the institute is negotiating with Coca-Cola, Fortis Healthcare and Ba-jaj Allianz Insurance. It has announced that the cola major will prepare students for retailers and floor managers job. AIT says it is consulting Fortis to start an MBA programme in Healthcare Management and some short-term courses in association with Bajaj Allianz Insurance.
