David Niemeyer Earns NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship
Senior David Niemeyer continues to earn academic honors as he was recently awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship. He becomes the fourth Lion and second mens soccer player to earn this prestigious award. Niemeyer plans to attend law school in the fall of 2008.
The one-time, nonrenewable grants of $7,500 each are awarded for the fall, winter and spring sport seasons to NCAA student-athletes in their final year of eligibility. The goal of the scholarship program, which recognizes the athletics and academic achievements, campus involvement and community service, volunteer activities and demonstrated leadership of recipients, is to promote and encourage postgraduate study by rewarding student-athletes through their participation in intercollegiate athletics.
Niemeyer wrapped up his college career by earning a number of academic honors following the 2006 season. He was named to the WCC All-Academic team for the third straight year, and was also named NSCAA Scholar All-West Region honorable mention.
