FSU wont release Warren from scholarship

Filed under:

Tight end Brandon Warren was one of Florida States most promising freshmen last fall. Now, barely five months later, no one knows where his future will be – or if it will even be at the Division I-A level.

A three-member panel of FSU faculty members Monday unanimously rejected Warrens appeal to be released from his scholarship, upholding Bobby Bowdens decision in February that Warren should stick with his commitment to FSU or pay his own way elsewhere.

Warren left school in early February to return home to Alcoa, Tenn., where his mother, Deirdre, has been in remission from cancer for two years. His sudden return prompted speculation that he was preparing to transfer to Tennessee, which waged a tough recruiting battle with FSU for his services out of high school.
