Benjamin Gonin, a student at Green Mountain Valley School in Waitsfield, has won a $1,000 college scholarship for writing the best essay from Vermont in this years National Peace Essay Contest.
The United States Institute of Peace has sponsored the contest for 20 years. As this years Vermont winner, Gonin will join other state winners on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C.. to participate in a week-long education program focusing on international conflict resolution, and compete for national scholarship awards up to $10,000.
