Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Arjun Singh will inaugurate a national seminar on convergence of conventional and distance mode of education and a 15-day-long workshop on theory and practice of open and distance learning at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).
The seminar will emphasize on nature of convergence of conventional and distance modes of education, which are the areas that need convergence, what strategies should be adopted towards having a desirable, effective, viable and cost-effective convergence, what can be the possible outcomes of convergence and utilization by various stakeholders.
Santosh Panda, Director of Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education at IGNOU said, around 40 academic counselors which also include the regional directors of IGNOU and Vice-chancellors of the State Open Universities will undergo training in open and distance learning system.
