DISTRICT SNAPSHOT: ZISD looks to the future with distance learning, expansion plans

Since its humble beginnings in 1885 as Robinson School, the Zavalla Independent School District has seen many changes. However, one thing has remained constant — its goal of preparing the youth of Zavalla to take their places as productive members of society.

Comprised of two campuses — Zavalla Elementary School, which serves pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and Zavalla Junior High/High School, which serves sixth through 12th grades — ZISD has been under the direction of Superintendent Dr. Kathy Ray since July 2005.

Prior to Ray’s arrival, Mike Ford held the superintendent position for 14 years. Before him, John Edmons oversaw the district for 30 years.
