Students Asked To Reflect On Ultimate Goal Of Education

Mr Kusi Aboraa, Ashanti Regional Director of the National Commission of Civic Education (NCCE), has called on students to make good use of facilities in their schools to achieve their objectives.

He said, beautiful compounds and buildings will not help them to pass their examinations but the most important facility is the teachers who are going to teach them.

He said this when addressing students of the Aduman Secondary School in the Kwabre District on Thursday as part of a three-day tour of the district.

If you sit down and think of structures you cannot realise your aim. The teachers are sacrificing for your future and so give them the needed respect and co-operation, he said. Mr Aboraa called on them to seek redress to their grievances through their Students Representative Council (SRC) and to refrain from vandalism and hooliganism.

The Regional Director said the problems of the country were not economic but irresponsibility on the part of many people in the country and charged students to form Civic Clubs in their schools to become conversant with the Constitution. Mr Aboraa advised the students to refrain from alcoholism, smoking and other social vices that could undermine their physiological development and mental capabilities.

Mr Emmanuel Anniboye, Kwabre District Director of the NCCE, urged the students to promote good governance in the country and indicated that the Commission was committed to sustain civic education in schools to make students more conversant with their civic rights and responsibilities.

Mr Martin Yaw Mensah, Headmaster, urged the students to obey rules and regulations to ensure effective teaching and learning and to protect the image of the school.
