Excellent Opportunity for a person with an interest in the collaborations of science teachers with scientists to work in a stimulating and challenging research team environment.The School of Education is offering a PhD scholarship that focuses on promoting and connecting science, industry and science education. This project is part of a large research collaboration between the Cooperative Research Centre (Sugar Industry Innovation through Biotechnology) at the University of Queensland and the UQ School of Education.
The School of Education, within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Studies, is one of the most productive and high profile schools of education in Australia with a large number of students from Australia and overseas. The School has an established reputation for research and teaching excellence and is extremely well positioned to foster collaborative research and training opportunities.
The Role: The successful candidate will work as part of a team with researchers and teachers who are undertaking a project to design, develop and implement education programs focused on biotechnology. With support and assistance from the project team, the candidate will develop a research project within this field, working over three years in order to complete a PhD. The methodology of the candidates study may involve qualitative and quantitative methods as well as requiring classroom observations, laboratory observations, and teacher, student and scientist interviews. The candidates study will run within the framework of the main study. The candidate will assume the role as co-researcher to the project team.
