Venturi One of 13 Female Student-Athletes Awarded NCAA Scholarship

Senior Melissa Venturi of George Masons womens lacrosse team is part of a select group of female student-athletes that have been selected to receive an NCAA Womens Enhancement Program Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics. Only 13 student-athletes are awarded the prestigious scholarship each year.

The scholarship program was developed by the NCAA Committee on Womens Athletics with the goal of increasing the number of opportunities available for qualified female candidates interested in pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletics. Each year, the NCAA awards 13 scholarships worth a value of $6,000 to female college graduates who will be entering their initial year of postgraduate studies.

We are very proud of Melissa for achieving this impressive academic honor, said George Mason womens lacrosse head coach Amy Bokker. She has proven through her consistent hard work and dedication in the classroom that she is certainly worthy of receiving this award. She will definitely make the most of this scholarship money and use it to help her achieve her academic and professional goals.
