A scholarship has been established at Heritage High School to honor a 1999 graduate who died two years ago in Afghanistan.

The first award of the Danny Dietz Scholarship of Honor will be presented Monday in a special ceremony at the school.

We are honored to be able to pay tribute to Danny for his sacrifice and recognize those who share his same vision of service to their country, said Doug LaViolette, president of the Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation, who created and administers the award.
