Japanese Scholarship 2008
Government of Japan is offering 35 scholarships for Research Studies/PhD for the year 2008. No scholarship will be offered for postdoctoral studies after PhD or at final stages of PhD. About two or three scholarships are reserved for Japanese language and Japanese studies. Scholarships will be awarded in the following subjects: (1) information technology; (2) optical fibre communication; (3) quality and reliability engineerings applied to various systems like electricity and power, railways, heavy industry, heavy electronics; (4) electronics and communication; (5) robotics; (6) laser technology; (7) bio-technology; (8) Japanese language and literature; (9) fisheries; (10) Japanese studies; (11) earthquake engineering; (12) environmental science; (13) architecture; (14) aerospace engineering; (15) material science/engineering. The duration is about two years. Maintenance allowance of 170,000 Yen monthly and 160,000 Yen in and after the thirteenth month of stay in Japan, subject to the annual budget of each year, tuition and examination fees exempted. Accommodation will be arranged. Economy class air-ticket from India to Japan and back will be provided by the Japanese government.
Requirements: Applicant must have been born on or after April 2,1973, below 35 years as on April 1,2008. The Japanese government will conduct written examination of English language test, of one-hour duration, of all the applicants, in addition to interviews conducted by Ministry of HRD, Department of Higher Education by committee of experts in various subject fields. Submission: May 30,2007, up to 5:30 pm. The hard copy and relevant documents must be furnished by post before June 5,2007.
