Minister pledges improvements for education system

Increased training opportunities and the need to retain qualified teachers are among the priorities of the Ministry of Education, says Education Minister Bertrand Joseph.

Speaking at the general conference of the Antigua & Barbuda Union of Teachers, Joseph said that he is actively discussing with the Ministry of Finance the need for funding to upgrade the facilities at the Antigua State College, so that an evening teacher training programme can be implemented.

Joseph said that the programme is to be put in place in the near future so that teachers can opt to continue working in the classroom during regular school hours while upgrading their classroom skills in the evenings.
