The Indira Gandhi National Open University is going to start a national repository of content and research material, which the disadvantaged will be able to access, free of cost using internet technology. The database would be created by academincs from both conventional and open universities.
Ignou vice-chancellor H P Dikshit said “The repositories, on various subjects, would be made available to students according to their convenience. Ignou has received immense support from all quarters to reach out to the disadvantaged.”
Ignou’s TV and radio channels, Gyan Darshan and Gya Vani are part of the programme. A Cooperative of 17 radio stations has been created to reach remote areas.
