Jessica Lovely, a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, was awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the hospitals auxiliary at the groups annual tea.
Experience: This year is Jessicas first year at Backus. She previously spent seven years as a nurse at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. A young working mother, Jessica now aspires to complete her MSN degree and become an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN). She is pursuing her APRN certification at Quinnipiac University in Hamden.
Background: Lovely, a Preston resident, holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Rhode Island College where she earned membership in the prestigious nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau. During her undergraduate studies, Lovely was chosen as a Rhode Island College essay winner.
