Scholarship program launched

Chesapeake Energy Corporation and two Arkansas Rotary districts announced today that the company has agreed to fund $50,000 in scholarships over the next year to state students who have or will be graduating from high school.

The initial $1,000 scholarship was presented to Jesse Foster, who will attend the Proficiency of Petroleum Technology Program at Arkansas State University — Heber Springs. Chesapeake contributed the funds to the Cleburne County Rotary Club, which provided it to the university.

Our hope is that this scholarship program will help encourage young people to consider fields of study that are relevant to the energy industry, said Carol Troy, Chesapeakes director of corporate communications. Our significant investment in Arkansas is expected to continue for the foreseeable future, and we are thrilled to establish a solid relationship with Rotary and the community leaders that form the clubs membership base.
