The Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) conducts management development programmes (MDPs) approved by the ministry of human resource development (MHRD) for senior managers and trainers working in human resource, project management or training profiles, in government and private enterprises. ISTD has also been nominated as the nodal agency for testing and certifying skilled workers in the unorganised sector and rural areas. Further, the organisation conducts a national competition on Innovative Training Practices annually, which has seen regular participation from the likes of Oil and Natural gas Corporation (ONGC), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), etc.
