SMOT, a fast rising business school has announced the launch of the first Pan-India post graduate programme in management. It has allocated 10 seats for every state and invites graduates from the state to apply for its course.
SMOTs PGPM is being conducted at its corporate campus in Chennai as a four semester, sixteen months programme starting from September 2007. This course ending in January 2009, is aimed at minimising post-placement attrition of management graduates in corporate India.
In order to avoid the issue of a generalist MBA trying to tackle the specialist roles industry is currently offering, SMOT offers candidates what it calls career domain verticals. One such stream is management consulting where SMOT, has tied up with CAMC (Canadian Association of Management Consultants) to get expertise to design, teach and evaluate the management consulting domain track. Not only that, SMOT graduates in this track have access to CAMCs flagship programmes in Canada as well. So in a couple of years you will be able to see people from the Indian hinterland consulting with fortune 50 companies in US, UK etc and making a name for themselves and India as well.
