Karnik Resigns
Nasscom will soon witness a change of guard with Kiran Karnik, the current president of the association, resigning from the post, as part of the corporate governance initiative he had set up two years ago. Sources say six people have been short-listed for succession.Global headhunting firm Korn Ferry, which was instrumental in placing Kiran Karnik at Nasscom in 2001, is now actively scouting for his replacement. One name doing the rounds as a possible successor to Karnik is that of Genpact president Pramod Bhasin. Karnik was the guiding force for the Indian IT industry during the outsourcing backlash, and had been serving as the president of the association for nearly six years.
