Heineken lands college softball scholarship

Bonnie Heineken used to throw strikes across the home plate at the Interior Girls Softball Association Fields.

The 2007 North Pole High School graduate used the same home plate on Wednesday night to sign an NCAA Division I National Letter of Intent with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Its really exciting, Heineken said after signing the letter in a ceremony during a break from practice with the Alaska Northstars Under-18 team. At first, I didnt realize that signing a letter of intent was that big, but I guess it is.
