The School of Ministry (SOM) at the University of Dallas continues its leadership role in creating high-quality, innovative academic programs with the expansion of its four-year Catholic Biblical School program – which is now offered entirely online and in both English and Spanish. Today, the Catholic Biblical School is the largest accredited program of its kind in the nation, attracting students from Kansas, New Mexico, California and elsewhere.
The Catholic Biblical School uses the latest technology and professionally credentialed, bilingual faculty to create a distance learning program that closely resembles the traditional classroom experience. The program explores every book in the Bible from academic and spiritual perspectives, preparing students to serve as leaders in their respective parish communities. The next academic year begins September 2007.
We have literally opened the doors of our school to the entire world, said Dr. Brian Schmisek, director of SOM. Our willingness to expand Catholic education is enabling a larger and more diverse group of students to study the sacred scripture, exchange ideas and forge strong relationships with faculty. Before the launch of our program, those learning activities used to take place only in traditional, bricks-and-mortar classrooms.
