The United Way of Norwalk & Wilton has supported the Wilton Family Y’s summer day camp scholarship program for many years through allocations and grants which help children in financial need attend camp each year. The Y program serves up to 500 boys and girls each week during the eight-week summer sessions.
United Way funding has been a critical part of the Y’s overall mission to remain open to everyone, regardless of financial limitations, said YMCA Executive Director, Bob McDowell. We never turn anyone away from Y programs, and in order to accomplish this, we rely on annual support from United Way of Norwalk & Wilton as well as the generosity of our individual donors. Without this support, it would not be possible for us to offer a camp experience to children in need of financial assistance. We are sincerely appreciative of the United Way’s responsiveness and involvement.
United Way and the Wilton Y have been community partners for many years, and we are so glad we continue to partner with them, said David Kennedy, president and CEO of United Way of Norwalk & Wilton. They are really helping to make Wilton a better community for all.
