Convocation at IGNOU
At the fifth convocation of Jamshedji Tata National Virtual Academy for Rural Prosperity (NVA) at IGNOUs campus, 527 fellows from 19 states were selected. For the first time fellows from Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Nigeria were present too. Releasing the directory of NVA Fellows, Prof. M. S. Swaminathan, President NVA, stressed the importance of a Rural Genius Academy. If rural transformation is to take place, the contribution of grassroots academicians is essential. The main aim of the programme is to empower rural farming and fishing families to make better control of their own development by building skills and capacity for enhancing their livelihood opportunities.
