Kaushik Saha, Student IIM Calcutta
Nothing was planned, says this 24 year old, IIM-Calcutta student, when asked about his preparation strategy for CAT. I used to take old papers and try to solve them. I used to work on my weak points, says Kaushik Saha with 99.7 percentile (Score: 202/300) in CAT 2006 who was selected by ah1 six IIMs. He, however, says he did a take a one-year course from T.I.M.E. and a bit of the Professional Tutorials and IMS test series.
Somewhere around the turn of my. Fourth year, I decided to go for an MBA. One of my immediate seniors got a call from all six IIMs. I thought I could do it too, says this M.Sc. (integrated) Applied Geology from IIT-Kharagpur. He started sharpening his brain for CAT in January last year. From January to April 2006,1 used to study two-three hours a day. Then I went for summer training at Reliance in Mumbai, where I would study for four-five hours at night. Summer job over, Saha devoted three-four hours a day from August to November, the month of CAT.
Sahas assault tactic is: first take on the section you are best at to gain confidence, then the weakest and finally your second strongest area. His advice to IIM hopefuls is, There is not much time left. Start clearing your concepts. Work hard - two to three hours a day Solve papers once a week. Analyse your weak points and try to avoid them (read, mistakes) next time. Ten days before the CAT, stop thinking about it and go with a fresh mind.
