A two-member committee from the Higher Learning Commission is at the University of Central Arkansas Monday and Tuesday to consider a proposal from the university on distance learning programs it wants to offer, ArkansasBusiness.com has learned.
Among the programs would be a new master of geographic information systems degree. GIS captures, stores, analyzes and manages data spatially referenced to the earth. UCA’s board of trustees has already approved the program.
If approved by the Higher Learning Commission, the GIS program would be offered exclusively via online distance learning. It would be the only GIS program in central Arkansas.
