Nano tech courses to be introduced in central universities

The government has announced that it would soon introduce nano technology courses in some Central universities that have completed 150 years. Disclosing this at an ASSOCHAM organised 5th Knowledge Millennium Summit, Minister of State, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Dr. D. Puran deswari said that nano faculties and courses would first commence in Universities of Kolkata, Mumbai and Chen-nai. Subsequently, the nano courses and faculties could be extended in all other universities across the country as India was facing an acute shortage of nano scientists. She added that the Ministry of Human Resource Development was currently evolving methodologies and developing curricula with concerned stakeholders so that nano courses are introduced in these universities as these have completed almost 150 years or would be completing in a year or so. Dr. Puran deswari also announced that her Ministry would shortly begin consultations with the University Grants Commission (UGC) so that necessary grants are circulated to the universities for the said courses.
