SCAD implements new eLearning assistance programs

National Distance Learning Week is being held Nov. 12-16 and is hosted by the U.S. Distance Learning Association, the association that awarded the 2006 Silver Award for Best Practices in Distance Learning Programming to SCAD-eLearning’s historic preservation degree program.

In recognition of National Distance Learning Week, SCAD-eLearning staff members are showcasing their most recent initiative: online creativity coaching sessions, held in conjunction with staff from counseling and student support services. The monthly sessions are conducted via Adobe Connect for eLearning students who find themselves handicapped with lack of motivation or sense of purpose, loss of creativity, or other obstacles such as stress and depression that hobble creativity and the ability to conceive and accomplish projects.

Initiatives such as this — through which SCAD provides eLearning students with access to the college’s programs and activities, regardless of the students’ locations — are one of many ways the college leverages leading-edge technology to benefit the entire SCAD community.
