SU to set up directorate of distance education
HYDERABAD: The Sindh University (SU) has decided to establish ‘Directorate of Distance Education’ at the campus to replace the existing degrees program of Bachelors and Masters for improvement in quality of education.
The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of a high-powered committee held here on Wednesday evening. It was presided over by Vice Chancellor SU, Mazharul Haq Siddiqi.
Those who attended the meeting included Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Rafia Ahmad Sheikh, Registrar Muhammad Saleh Rajar, Dean Faculty of Education Dr Parveen Munshi, Advisor Planning and Development Muhammad Husain Sheikh, Controller of Examinations Dr Pervez Ahmad Pathan and other officials.
The objectives of the Directorate of Distance Education include facilitating those private candidates at graduate and masters level, who cannot afford to get education as regular students.
In order to improve the quality of education of private students, the HEC has accorded approval to establish the ‘Directorate of Distance Education’ in six public sector universities, including the University of Sindh.
