The IITs opposed to the opening of this new year
New Delhi, April 22 (IANS) The seven existing Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) - prestigious in the world, the institutions of excellence - had protested against the opening of three more IITs this year, but the government was preceded by itself. “We said that the (Human Resources Development), the ministry is not at the starting line for new IITs this year, but it had a different view, IIT Delhi, the director said Surendra Prasad IANS.
Prasad refused to write what she had written to the ministry, or what exactly the ministry’s response. Consent sources have, however, indicated that the seven IITs cited lack of infrastructure and the quality of teachers as a big road block for the creation of new institutes.
The three new IITs in Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar are starting to come, the operation of the academic session.
“As the government has to take a decision, we will help the new institutions in every genre possible - Education, Faculty etc,” said Prasad.
All three new IITs each have 120 seats of the year. At the beginning, they have courses in three streams - science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.
