The success of iQ Academy
Kansas’ online high school has prompted an expansion of the curriculum to include a complete middle school program for students in grades 7 and 8.
The new curriculum was recently approved by the Kansas State Department of Education and covers core courses such as English and math, as well as a wide variety of electives such as world languages, web design, digital photography and music appreciation.
“We have seen how our high school students excel in the online learning setting and wanted to expand that opportunity to more students at different grade levels,” said Brooke Blanck, Director of iQ Academy Kansas. “The curriculum is flexible to meet the needs of today’s students who are busier than ever before. iQ Academy is focused on providing Kansas students the opportunity to excel at their own pace, studying when and where they want so they can pursue their passions.”
Just like iQ Academy Kansas’ high school program, the middle school offers a high-quality, tuition-free, education option that provides small group instruction and one-on-one feedback from licensed teachers – all
conducted online using a laptop provided by the school. Courses are taught by teachers licensed in Kansas, who give individualized attention to students and moderate dynamic student discussions online. Once enrolled, students receive textbooks as required for their courses and optional use of a laptop computer. As in traditional public schools, these learning tools are provided to students at no cost for as long as they are enrolled in iQ Academy Kansas.
iQ Academy Kansas, a program of Manhattan - Ogden USD 383, is currently enrolling students for the 2008-09 school year in both the middle school and high school programs. iQ Academy Kansas is also offering summer school courses June 2 - July 27. Kansas students in grades 7 - 12 are eligible to enroll in a broad array of core, elective, and foreign language courses, with enrollment taking place April 14 - May 23.
