The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) was waiting for a directive from HRD ministry to go ahead with the admission of nine OBC students in PG courses from this year after the Supreme Court on Friday lifted the stay on the process by the Calcutta High Court.
“We have come to know about the Supreme Court order but we are waiting for a formal direction from the HRD ministry to complete the process,” IIM-C chief administrative officer Dinesh Verma told PTI.
Verma said IIM-C would complete the admission procedure so that OBC students could begin first year classes from June 23 as scheduled.
IIM-C has already interviewed OBC students for admission.
However, to complete the process within the deadline the timeframe for acceptance of the admission offer letter would be shorter than the three weeks allowed in the normal course.
