» News > Education, IIT > Wipro trust ties up with IIT-B for centre of excellence
Mission10X, a non-profit trust launched by Wipro Ltd, announced here today that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) with the objective of creating a broad understanding that can foster closer collaboration between Mission10X and IIT-B.
Some of the activities to be jointly undertaken under the MoU are creation of educational material, establishing of a joint centre of excellence to carry out joint research activity in education, and transmission of educational material created by Mission10x through EDUSAT. The MoU is for a period of 3 years.
Adressing a press conference, Wipro Technologies Senior Vice-President (Talent Transformation) Selvan D, said, “This partnership raises the bar of Mission10X and helps every engineering college in the country benefit from the best of breed practices that IIT-Bombay has been known for over the years. It will help improve the quality of engineering education in the country.”
Speaking on the occasion, IIT-Bombay Centre for Distance Engineering Education Programme (CDEEP) Head Kannan Moudgalya said, “We see an exciting opportunity to collaborate with Mission10X which is working towards enhancing engineering faculty capabilities across the country, through innovative teaching and learning paradigms.”
Mission10X has covered faculty members from 17 engineering colleges in Maharashtra.
Sharadchandra Darade Patil, Dean of Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Pune, said, “The Mission10X programme launched by Wipro is highly appreciated. Our faculty members who attended the first batch of the programme have tried out various innovations in engineering classrooms. The popularity of the faculty members who attended the programme has gone up significantly among the student community and across the institution.”
The Mission10X programme involves a set of capability building workshops to help engineering faculties nurture talent pools across the country. It was formally launched last September and has covered five states.
It will be launched in a phased manner across the country – with the aim of co vering 10,000 faculties by 2010.
