» News > IIM > Pre-placement to rise offers at the IIMs
The bubbly that started at the IIM final placements last year has spilled over to the pre-placement offers at the campuses this year, thanks to a booming global economy.
Students of 2004-06 batch who have just joined the institute after their 75-day summer internships, have already started getting pre-placement offers (PPOs), well before October when the offers normally start pouring in. The numbers have dramatically gone up this year at all the campuses.
IIM, Bangalore has already received 12 offers, while IIM, Kolkata can boast of around ten. IIM, Ahmedabad has got around five, but the institutes placement cell members say they are expecting more offers in the coming weeks. Around this time, in previous years, the number of PPOs at the IIM campuses were almost negligible.
The IIM sources attribute the deluge of early PPOs to the huge number of students the IIMs were able to place abroad for their summer internships. The number of foreign internships this year has been 50% more than last year. Add to this the booming global economy, and the growing requirement for trained managers in India by foreign firms who see more business in India in the near future.
