India Emerging A Leader In Technology

The Republic of Uganda requires assistance from countries like India and China to develop its human resources, said its Deputy National Political Commissar and Director of Foreign Affairs, A.M. Kirunda Kivejinja.

He was here on Friday at the Periyar University delivering a lecture on education, organised by the Salem-Dharmapuri Chamber of Commerce (SDCC). India will become the global leader in technology by 2020 and China will be the biggest economy in the world by 2025. We need assistance from these nations to improve our educational system and the technical skills of the people, he said.

The new generation of India is more knowledgeable. This knowledge could be expanded to the people of Uganda, who are still finding it difficult to have access to better education. India has a good association with the African counties. It has been the forerunner for them in freedom movement. It has achieved a lot in several fields since its independence, he said.

Mr. Kirunda Kivejinja also narrated his experience while studying natural sciences at the Madras Christian College, Tambaram, with the Government of India Cultural Scholarship 48 years ago and his visit to Salem.
