MAHE Institutions Adopt Peoplesoft IT Application
The First University To Launch The Software In India
MANIPAL: The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) on Tuesday launched the PeopleSoft IT application in its various institutions and colleges in Manipal, Mangalore and Malaysia. MAHE is the first university to launch PeopleSoft applications in India.
The objective of implementing PeopleSoft is to enhance university processes to global standards and to disseminate academic and financial information to students and parents through the Internet.
PeopleSoft is a comprehensive enterprise-wide software that covers all aspects of management and operations of a modern university system. MAHE is implementing student record, student finance, finance and human resource management system.
The student administration module will be deployed once it is delivered by PeopleSoft/Oracle. MAHE is rolling out PeopleSoft Enterprise portal to its employees and students as it would be a gateway to access important data through intranet and Internet. MAHE would shortly introduce e-learning for medical students through content digitisation.
Speaking at the launch of PeopleSoft, the President of MAHE, Ramdas M. Pai, said MAHE believed in leveraging technology and systems in imparting world class education as is shown by the adoption of the PeopleSoft. Through PeopleSoft, MAHE is enabling payment of fees tuition, hostel and mess via online banking systems, credit card sites of ICICI Bank and others. This will save time and efforts of students and parents and also reduce administrative costs. In the near future, information about students` attendance, marks, performance, mess charges can be monitored by parents from outside,“ Dr. Pai said.
The Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, H.S. Ballal, said that through PeopleSoft, MAHE is standardising processes across its various institutions. We are implementing best global practices and facilitating access to information anywhere, anytime. The university will use single database leading data consistency and reduced overheads,“ he said.
Vinod Bhat, Registrar of MAHE, welcomed the gathering. Gurumadhva Rao, Executive Director, proposed a vote of thanks. Sriram Papani, Vice-President of PeopleSoft and Oracle, Grover, Senior Director of Oracle, B.N. Manohar of Manipal Education and Medical Group, were present.
